Mancetter 2
The walk continued into the heart of Mancetter itself, here a short break was taken on the village green alongside the church wall of St Peter

From this point the group returned to the village of Mancetter and began the return journey back to the country park. Following the uphill route it was surprising how the sections varied with part of the slope by the wooded area being long enough to stretch the group over the length of the field. While pausing to allow the back markers time to re-group, the magnificent sight of a Buzzard was observed gliding and soaring with such little effort over the fields below.

Upon returning to the hill top car park picnic lunches (as advised) were taken on the benches in the park area. It was here that a reflection of how well-thought out the sequence of sites to tie the deep history of the area was made, along with the planning for this very interesting and enjoyable walk.

After the break the walkers were guided to an area just to the south of the village over the river Anker. Here a heavily industrialized (pottery kilns) landscape was described, and with the detail visualised.
